Regal Cinemas donates over $17,000 to Communities In Schools!

While the Grand Opening for newest Regal Cinema in town happens tonight, for three lucky nonprofits and hundreds of families the real festivities were a four-night pre-func prior to the opening. Each time Regal Cinemas opens a new cinema it hosts, for there consecutive days and nights prior, $2 movies and serves $2 popcorn and sodas. Regal then donates all proceeds to three local nonprofits – each nonprofit receiving the proceeds of one day’s sales.

For the opening of it’s Thornton Place cinema (which anchors a beautiful new urban village type development in Northgate) the cinema donated proceeds to Susan G. Komen, ($13,600) Newspapers In Education ($15,000) and Communities In Schools who receive proceeds from it’s May 19th night totaling, drum roll please…. $17,300!

Regal Cinemas has long history of philanthropy supporting Make-A-Wish, Boys & Girls Club and the Red Cross among others, and has run $2 movies benefitting nonprofits since 2003.

Communities In Schools partnered with KING5 television to promote Wednesday night’s event, billed as KING5 Family Night at the Movies, and received 60 television placements for our Schools Can’t Do it Alone campaign. Expect to see more of the TV spot in months to come.

Big thanks to Regal, King 5 and everyone who came out for $2 movies to support three great organizations. Without your support, we couldn’t do what we do to help kids and families. Hope we get to do it again!
